Nominations for the BRIT Awards 2015 have been revealed with Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and George Ezra all in the mix for the British Male, British Single and Album of the Year awards.
The trio face competition from Parlophone’s Damon Albarn and Atlantic’s Paolo Nutini.
2014 newcomers Ella Henderson and FKA Twigs are both up for British Female Solo Artist.
Sony Music’s Columbia emerges as the label with the most nods, with a total of 12. Calvin Harris and Mark Ronson are among contributors to the count alongside Ezra.
Co-president of Columbia, Mark Terry said: “I’m delighted that Columbia is leading the charge with 12 BRITs nominations this year, it’s been a fantastic year for the label and our artists, both domestic and international. I’d like to congratulate our biggest homegrown artists George Ezra, Calvin Harris and Mark Ronson. We have all worked incredibly hard to deliver some of the biggest and best records of the year, so it’s rewarding for this to be recognised.”
Co-president of Columbia Alison Donald added: “Columbia goes from strength to strength. After the successful year that was 2014, followed by the first number 1 single of 2015 with Uptown Funk, the success in the BRITs nominations is a great way to start 2015 as we mean to go on.”
