Stevie Wonder – Songs in the Key of Life Tour Dates

Stevie Wonder has added 11 more dates to his blockbuster “Songs in the Key of Life” tour, on which he’s been playing his legendary 1976 album in its entirety. The new leg will begin on St. Patrick’s Day in Denver take him to big cities in the Midwest and eastern part of the United States before wrapping in Brooklyn on April 12th.

The first leg of the tour – which Rolling Stone called “possibly 2014’s greatest testament to the limitless potential of American music itself” – criss-crossed the States last November and December. Tickets for the new dates go on sale on January 23rd and the 24th, depending on the date, via Live Nation.

Wonder first attempted the feat of playing the diamond-selling double-album in its entirety in late 2013 at his annual House Full of Toys benefit concert. “Truly, I wanted to do this for years,” he said at the event. Prior to the show, he revealed that he had been planning on reviving the album live for at least eight or nine years.

The album has just inspired me,” he said when asked how the album has changed for him over time. “When I listen to my music, I listen to really see if I still feel the same way. When I listen to Songs in the Key of Life or Talking Book or Innervisions or any of the things I’ve done in the past, I listen to measure how I feel and how I see the world…and it gives me a lot of optimism.

Next month, Wonder’s music will be the subject of a tribute concert, Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life – An All-Star Grammy Salute, which will air on CBS. Taped two days after the Grammys, the program will feature the likes of Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran, Willie Nelson, Usher and Janelle Monáe, among others who have yet to be announced, singing Wonder’s songs.
