Robert Vincent & Anna Corcoran, live at Sound Food & Drink, as part of We Shall Overcome Liverpool, 03/10/2015.
“If there’s a lot of half-finished, semi-fulfilled, vaguely unsatisfying music around these days — songs that say nothing to you about your life — then maybe it’s because the people who make it haven’t lived much of a life themselves. Not so in the case of Robert Vincent, the searingly honest Liverpool singer-songwriter whose mix of folk, rock and country is like a Mersey Van Morrison or a Scouse Springsteen.”
Andrew Harrison (Q magazine editor)
Robert’s special edition debut album “Life In Easy Steps” is out now on double CD & 25 page book format and can be ordered from : http://bit.ly/11w47DQ
Liverpool Music Award Nominee, Singer songwriter Anna Corcoran, originally from Formby Merseyside graduated from Goldsmiths college in 2005, with a Bachelor of Music degree. Since then, Anna has been performing extensively nationwide, holding residencies in some of the country’s most exclusive establishments.
She spent this time experimenting with the music and arrangements of her favourite artists and her passion for the craft of the iconic singer-songwriters developed as her repertoire expanded. Strong echoes of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos with the soulful mellow tones of Sarah McLachlan are very evident in Anna’s live sound.
Immersed in music; and starry-eyed at a beautiful steinway in The Dorchester,The Ritz or Pall Mall’s exclusive RAC Club, Anna truly mastered the art of the late night piano bars of London. With a repertoire of easily over 5 hours of music, Anna thrived of audience requests and the challenge of winning over the crowd.
However during this time she began to crave the focus of music lovers and ‘listening audiences’. These audiences were initially found venturing outside of London and back to her home town of Liverpool in 2009 where Anna has been creating quite a stir with her recent run of concerts.
Working both as a solo artist and in conjunction with a great community of Liverpool’s musicians – her live performances are receiving much acclaim.
Anna has spent much of 2012 working alongside fellow merseyside musician Robert Vincent and is featured on vocals and piano on his forthcoming album “Life in Easy Steps”. ‘After so many years of gigging on my own – I’ve loved being part of Robs band. I love the musicianship that is involved, singing the male/female harmonies. The recording of his album in Brighton last year was a brilliant experience.‘
For Anna, it has always been about the live set, and the live sound.
“The music business is in a strange place at the moment – With everything so available online these days, So few people pay for music now..they watch videos for free on youtube instead….But I really believe, people will ALWAYS want to go out to watch live gigs and concerts. And that means as musicians, we need to be constantly performing, evolving and perfecting our skill”
