Bio

John Jenkins is a singer songwriter born in Liverpool.

John was Joint Audience Winner of the 2014 Liverpool Songwriters Challenge with his song “Put the World to Right”

Like his debut single “Sweet Delphine”, it features John and Helen Maher (Accordion), Amy Chalmers (Violin) and Jon Lawton (Guitars, Bass and Drums). His solo album “Trains” will be released in February 2016.

He recently recorded a TV spot on Liverpool Lives’ “Red Sofa Sessions” in June 2015 and 4 songs for Liverpool Local TV Station Bay TV in July 2015 and also recorded 3 songs for the prestigious Narrowboat Sessions in July 2015.

John plays locally around Liverpool and you can find him playing such places such as the Cornmarket Acoustic Club, Bridewell, Sound Food and Kitchen Acoustic, Jacaranda, The Magnet, Zanzibar, Thornton Hough Village Club, Bier.

He was Artist of the Week for Siren FM Sunday Girl Programme 93 on June 21st.

“Sweet Delphine”, his debut single, received fabulous reviews by Radio Stations such as BBC Radio Merseyside, Severn FM Gloucester, Wirral Radio and Merseyradio plus a 9/10 review on Liverpool Sound and Vision website (“If ever a song felt like a painting, a singular one off prized beauty found to be put on a canvas by Turner then Sweet Delphine is that Track”). The Musical Outcast review described it as “Quality Songwriting” and a definite winner and compared his songwriting with Johnny Cash and it was also included in the Liverpool Acoustic Podcast 133 in June 2015.

He has supported Elvis Costello, The Beat, Echo and The Bunnymen. Had 5 BBC Radio 1 sessions (3 John Peel, Kid Jensen and Janice Long) with bands Come in Tokio and The Persuaders.
