Bio

Kate Ashton-Butler is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Romiley Village in greater Manchester. After a drastic move to London went sour, Kate, bored with the city, began writing music reminiscent of the small town existence she had left behind.

Since her return to Manchester in 2014 she has worked tirelessly delivering her own brand of folk music and has been fortunate enough to support artists like Gideon Conn, Rachel Sermanni and Herman Dune.

Her songs draw influence from artists like Joanna Newsom, Kate Bush and Beirut as well as fields and forests, classic literature, and even HBO shows. She plays guitar, piano, mandolin and trombone.

Kate is currently working on her debut EP with Kai Ohio of Samsara sessions, while additionally playing live as often as she can in the city she loves.

Kate can be contacted through Facebook, Twitter, tree carvings or the beacons of Gondor.
