Bio
Random Scandal formed in August 2012 with Neil joining on drums at the start of 2013 completing the line up of Scoot(Bottom Feeders) on vocals, Allan(21st century band) on bass, Neil(The Begruders) on drums and Andy (Big Fat Panda) on guitar. Buckfast fuelled mayhem began.
Influenced by bands like Op Ivy, Ramones, Cockney Rejects, Rancid and Barbed Wire, they play a mix of straight up street punk with hints of ska and oi mixed in for a fast paced heavy sound. That line up gigged for 2 years and recorded the demo EP “Lalochezia”.
In October 2015, Andy left to concentrate on playing bass for Edinburgh ska band Big Fat Panda, stepping in to take over was Barron (The Defenestrators). One of his first gigs for Random Scandal was at Punk for Pam in Edinburgh in March 2015 alongside GBH and The Varukers.
They have toured with The Bus Station Loonies and this year played Punk For Pam again with English Dogs and GBH. They have just released their debut album “Random Scandal” recorded at The Rec Rooms in Edinburgh and have several trips to England for a pile of great events including Fuk Reddin in London, Anti-pop fest in Liverpool and Total Resistance in Derby with P.A.I.N at the end of August then another trip in early September for Plymouth Punx Picnic and a few others.
Politically, they are 100% anti-fascist. While they don’t always sing directly about politics, their songs are about situations caused by politics. As an example, “Vicious Circles”, which is about direct experience of being homeless and in an endless circle of no house, no job, and vice versa to the more obvious political stuff like “They Live” about the oppressive Tory government ruling over the UK at the moment.
